When did you join the hotel and in what role?
I joined in November 2008 as General Manager
What motivates you in the hospitality industry?
The variety, the people – guests and colleagues, it’s fun, people are there to have a great time and are on a high, your skills are transferrable internationally
What makes Mercure Edinburgh different to the other hotels?
The best views in Edinburgh and sandwiched between two retail giants, M&S and the iconic Jenners Department Store.
What dishes would you recommend visitors to try when in Scotland?
Got to be the seafood as Scotland has one of the best larders in the world and if you have a sweet tooth Walkers Shortbread. Of course you cannot leave without trying haggis.
If someone had only 48 hours to experience Edinburgh, what activities would you recommend?
The Castle, The National Galleries, Palace of Holyroodhouse and Arthurs Seat.
What is your city’s best kept secret?
The Water of Leith Walkway that takes in Dean Village, The Dean Gallery and National Gallery of Modern Art.
